This instruction describes setting up Almalence Digital Lens OpenXR Layer on HP Reverb G2 Omnicept VR head-mounted display.

Hardware requirements- HP Reverb G2 Omnicept. - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 or later.
Software requirements- Windows 10 (64-bit) or later. - SteamVR 1.26.6 or later. - Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR - Mixed Reality Portal. - HP Omnicept Runtime

You can use the DLVR OpenXR layer with either Windows Mixed Reality runtime or SteamVR.

Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) OpenXR runtime setup:

  1. Make sure that the eye-tracking sensor is enabled in the HP Omnicept settings.
  2. Run Windows Mixed Reality. For the best experience, use the "4320x2160 (best quality)" option of the "Adjust Display Resolution" setting. To set the resolution, go to "Menu -> See more.. -> Settings -> Headset display -> Resolution," and set the "Adjust display resolution" value to "4320 x 2160 (best quality)."
  3. To complete the setup, you should calibrate the eye-tracking sensor using the HP Omnicept Eye Tracking Calibration application. That application should have already been installed as a part of HP Omnicept Runtime. You can find it in the Start button menu.
  4. If you have other OpenXR runtimes installed on your PC, Windows Mixed Reality may warn you that it's not set up to run OpenXR apps and suggest to fix it – click the "Fix it" button then:

SteamVR OpenXR runtime setup:

  1. First, complete steps 1-3 from “WMR OpenXR runtime setup” above. WMR has to be installed for the SteamVR Mixed Reality to operate correctly.
  2. In the SteamVR window, click the menu button and go to Settings.
  3. Go to the Video settings tab and switch the "Render Resolution" option to "Custom." Set the "Resolution Per Eye" option to 100%. For the best experience, the "Resolution Per Eye" parameter should equal 3172 x 3100 or near this value.
  4. Open the "OpenXR" tab and make sure that "Current OpenXR Runtime" is "SteamVR." If it is not, click the "Set SteamVR as OpenXR Runtime" button.
In older versions of SteamVR, at the bottom of the window, switch "Advanced Settings" to "Show," and you can find the "Set SteamVR as OpenXR Runtime" button in the "Developer" section.

Launch your app.

Almalence OpenXR Layer will be automatically enabled if:

  • Your app supports OpenXR runtime.
  • Your app uses the following graphics API: DirectX11/12, Vulkan.
  • You have made the settings described above.

In case installation and configuration were sucessful, you will see the following message when launching any OpenXR-compatible app:

The best way to see the effect of the Digital Lens plugin is to toggle it on/off by using [DELETE] button on your PC keyboard.

The effect of Almalence DLVR is best observed at high-resolution textures and scenes with lots of fine details.

Any OpenXR-compatible application shall work with Almalence OpenXR Layer. Just in case, below are few applications that have been tested:

- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Beat Saber v1.29.4 and later
- Treekeepers
- FlashOut
- Blender (VR plugin)
